Renaissance Zone Committee
August 2002
Present: Bonnie Olson-President of city commission and Executive Director Langdon Chamber of Commerce, Carol Goodman-Executive Director-Cavalier County Job Development Authority, Barb Kruk, Patrick Rime, Tina Gustafson. Absent: Marnie Brooks.
Ms. Goodman called the meeting to order. She handed those present out binders containing information on the renaissance Zone. Also reviewed were different sources of possible grant or loan money for Main Street businesses. The future main Street project that could involve new street, water and sewer lines along with street lighting and sidewalks was reviewed. No potential date for that project has ever been set. Grants for sidewalk repair were discussed, as it could be possible for funding for that portion.
It was discussed increasing the size of the group up to seven to ten members, including gone legal person. It was decided that the group should meet with Joel Gray of Office of Intergovernmental assistance as he works with this project. It was also agreed that the committee should pursue meeting with Don Frye of Carrington as Carrington has just approved a Renaissance Zone application. The Committee was also interested in visiting Carrington to see what their plans were.
Ms. Goodman was to check with Don Frye as to a date to meet and then set up another meeting of this committee.
