Welcome
to Cavalier County, ND located in the
northeast quarter of the state along the US/Canadian border.
Served directly by Railroad and 2 State Highways with
an Interstate Highway only 50 miles east and a 4 lane
US Highway 51 miles to the south. Three Canadian ports
of entry give us easy access to international trade as
well. Winnipeg, Manitoba, a major Canadian market, lies
120 miles Northeast, while Grand Forks and Fargo, North
Dakota are 115 and 195 miles southeast. Three commercial
airports within 110 miles and a local municipal airport
with 5000 feet of hard surface runway also serve Cavalier
County. With these facilities transportation to and from
the county is easy.
We
are served by Otter Tail Power Company and Cavalier Rural Electric
for our electricity needs. Montana Dakota Utilities provides
natural gas to the City of Langdon. United Telephone Mutual
Aid Corporation serves the entire county and beyond with a modern
voice and data network, local access to the Internet and a cellular
telephone tower. Other communications in the local area include
KNDK AM and FM radio stations, two sources of Cable television,
and the Cavalier County Republican; the county newspaper is
published weekly.
Cavalier
County has three public school systems serving grades K through
12 and a K-8 parochial school.
